You guys~I am 36 years old, and just got my first pair of contacts! Correction: I got 1 (singular) contact. My left eyeball is blind (due to a freak illness during pregnancy, I got shingles and my eye scarred over), but my right eye is fine, just needed a little help with distance. After begging my eye doctor for years, he finally relented and let me get my contact. I feel like a total dork trying to put these things in…I have no problem touching my eyeball, however…I can’t see anything (due to my finger being in the good eye, and no vision in the other eye)…so the first time I did it by myself, it took 20 minutes. My eye was bright red. Every day gets a little better, yet I feel like this is a struggle that an adult shouldn’t have. Oh, but my oh my, it’s very exciting to have such sharp vision without my glasses! Now, when a friend waves to me at Target, I won’t have to squint and say ‘who are you, come closer’!
